Is There A Way To Cure Panic Attack?
You are on your way to meet your friends at a movie theater. You stop in at the local drug store to pick up some facial cleanser you’ve been needing. As you’re about to leave your car you are seized by an unspeakable terror. Your chest tightens and you can hardly breathe. Your palms are sweating and you begin shaking uncontrollably. You are terrified, but you are not sure of what. You are experiencing a panic attack.
About 3 million Americans, or 1.7 percent of the population experience panic attacks. They are frightening and usually come on suddenly and unexpectedly, without any known trigger. They are so powerful that often after experiencing a severe panic attack a person will avoid the place or situation in which they had the attack, simply for fear of having another one. This is true, even if there was no actual trigger in the situation itself.
Unfortunately this is how phobias are sometimes developed. The fear of being in the same situation where a panic attack was experienced becomes so great that it is considered a phobia. This is obviously a very serious problem for those who suffer from panic attacks. It can become very difficult to function normally when someone has experienced multiple attacks.
The question, then, is: is there a way to cure panic attack? Fortunately, there are many who would argue that there is! As a matter of fact, there are a number of methods of varying reliability that are said to help fight against panic attacks.
The first types that are medically recognized as the most effective are cognitive behavioral therapy and medication. The first of these is simply a therapy that helps to change the sufferer’s mindset through education. Learning about what really happens during a panic attack and understanding how many people suffer from them is very empowering and, while it might not cure panic attack, it can be much easier to deal with the symptoms. Certain medications have proven effective in stopping panic attacks, too.
There are others who claim that the way to cure panic attack is through herbal remedies. There is a long list of herbs that can be consumed in various ways, often by soaking in water and then drinking, that are said to have anti-anxiety properties and can stop you from having panic attacks.
While no method is a certain cure, it is important to try to do something to alleviate your symptoms during panic attack. Seeking professional help is a very good idea. Remember that there is nothing to be embarrassed about. The important thing is doing what you can to help you through your attacks and hopefully to put a stop to them altogether.
